About: Durham County Library will host fine art photographer Marjorie Brown Pierson on Thursday, December 12, at 7 p.m. at Southwest Regional Library, 3605 Shannon Rd. Pierson will discuss her work capturing coastal North Carolina landscapes and will sign copies of her book, Struck by Nature: Photographs of Bald Head Island.
“There is strength and beauty everywhere, in quietly magnificent seascapes and shimmering marsh grasses,” Pierson said. She has been photographing Bald Head Island since 2009. Her painterly photographs of the island invite the viewer into lush landscapes.
Pierson earned a BA from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and an MA in Management from Northwestern University. Her images appear in a growing number of solo and group exhibitions and are represented in museum, university, corporate and private collections across the country. She has taught at Duke University. Pierson’s studio is located in downtown Durham’s Golden Belt Arts District.
