Durham County Library relies on the support of the community to help us continue to provide outstanding programs, resources and services that we cannot achieve through county support alone. There are several ways you can get involved with the library.
An independent organization, Durham Library Foundation solicits, receives and administers gifts for the library’s benefit. Gifts are used to fund enhancements and improvements that the library could not otherwise afford through its annual operating budget. A $25 gift to the foundation also grants you an annual membership to the Friends of the Durham Library.
The Friends of the Durham Library is a group of volunteers that provides financial support to Durham County Library through its book sales and membership fees. Becoming a Friends member grants you early access to the semi-annual book sale, discounts at The Regulator bookstore and a free copy of Season’s Readings, an annual booklet of staff reading recommendations.
Volunteers are vital to helping Durham County Library provide a high level of service. Library volunteers shelve and pull books, help with events and programs, assist in the North Carolina Room and perform many other library tasks.
