Durham County Library Hosts Reception Honoring Mr. R. Kelly Bryant, Jr.

The Durham County Library North Carolina Collection will host a reception in honor of local historian and civil rights activist Mr. R. Kelly Bryant, Jr. at 3 p.m. on Saturday, June 21, at the Main Library, 300. N. Roxboro Street. City Councilman Eddie Davis will serve as emcee for the festivities and special guests, including community leaders John Lucas and Nathan Garrett, will be present to speak about Mr. Bryant’s accomplishments.

Durham County Library Hosts STEM Programs for Teens

Durham County Library will host a series of STEM programs for teens beginning on Monday, June 16, at the Main Library, 300. N. Roxboro Street. The programs are part of the Teen Tech Learning Lab – Where Science and Imagination Collide!, an initiative funded in part by a grant from Duke Energy Foundation and aimed at providing teens and young adults with ongoing experiential learning opportunities in Science, Technology, Engineering and Math related fields.

Durham County Library Gears up for Summer Reading 2014

Durham County Library will celebrate the start of Summer Reading 2014 with a kickoff at Northgate Mall on Saturday, June 14 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Dozens of performers and activities will be on tap, including Scrap Exchange, Paint Savvy, North Carolina Zoo, Museum of Natural Sciences, Durham Arts Council, Mad Science, aerialists, storytelling, face painting, balloon art, crafts, bounce houses, a video game truck and musicians.
