Come celebrate both the past and present! Our city of Durham, North Carolina has enjoyed a warm and enduring relationship with the people of Durham, England since official ties began in 1989 through Sister Cities International. Join us to learn about the history of North East England (Durham and Northumberland), its relationship to the rest of England, and the dialects that developed. This entertaining and informative session will include examples of the similarities and differences between English as we “Yanks” know it, and that used by those who live in the other Durham across the pond. Yorkshire tea and scones will be served. This program is co-sponsored by Durham UK Committee, Sister Cities of Durham.
