Slavery By Another Name chronicles the horrifying story of the new form of involuntary servitude that emerged after Reconstruction in the South and lasted for over 80 years. Dr. Adriane Lentz-Smith, Associate Professor of History and Director of Undergraduate Studies at Duke University will introduce the film and lead the question and answer period. This program is made possible through a major grant from the National Endowment for the Humanities, as part of its Bridging Cultures initiative, in partnership with the Gilder Lehrman Institute of American History. It is co-sponsored by the Program in the Humanities at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill.
