Join collector Dr. Robert Healy, Professor Emeritus of Environmental Policy at Duke University, in an overview of the Taller de Grafica Popular (Workshop of Popular Graphic Art). The Taller flourished in Mexico City from the 1930s to the 1970s as a collective of several dozen talented and politically radical artists – including one-time Durham resident Elizabeth Catlett – who created linocut prints, posters, illustrations and newspapers . An exhibit of works from Healy’s collection will be on display from Feb. 23 through Mar. 15, including a set of prints giving the TGP’s interpretation of some famous African Americans.
