Join Pulitzer Prize-winning columnist and author Leonard Pitts for a reading of his novel Freeman. The novel follows the story of Sam, a freedman who leaves Philadelphia to find his wife and child he left behind 15 years ago in Mississippi when he fled to freedom. He travels south in the turbulent time between the end of the War and the beginning of Reconstruction. Freeman won the Black Caucus of the American Library Association’s 2013 Award for Fiction. A book signing will follow the reading.
