ABC-CLIO E-book Collection
Contains a large collection of ebooks covering American history and world history, as well as history books on more obscure topics, such as the history of sports, fashion, food and scientific discoveries. There are also many books that discuss what life was like during certain time periods in different countries, including recipes. There is also a small multicultural and gender studies collection.
Academic Search Premier
Use this database if you need full-text articles from scholarly journals. Subjects include art, computer sciences, engineering, physics, chemistry, linguistics, literature, medical sciences, ethnic studies and many more. How-to-guide 
African-American Poetry
Nearly 3,000 poems written by African-American poets in the late eighteenth and nineteenth centuries.

Search through over 2,300 national and international business journals as well as company profiles from Datamonitor, country reports, industry profiles and market research reports. This database is useful for small business owners, investors, managers, business students and anyone doing business or travelling abroad. Includes Entrepreneur magazine.
CAMIO
Provides high-quality images of paintings, sculpture, clothing, jewelry and other pieces of art which have been licensed for non-commercial, educational use.
CINAHL w/full-text
Covers nursing, biomedicine, health sciences librarianship, alternative/complementary medicine, consumer health and 17 allied health disciplines. Offers access to health care books, nursing dissertations, selected conference proceedings, standards of practice, educational software, audiovisuals and book chapters. Indexing for 2,717 journals and full-text for 320 journals, plus legal cases, clinical innovations, critical paths, drug records, research instruments and clinical trials.

Designed to support the information needs of patients, and to foster an overall understanding of health-related topics. CHC provides content covering all areas of health and wellness from mainstream medicine to the many perspectives of complementary, holistic and integrated medicine.

The full-text and images of Consumer Reports from January 1991 to the present. Includes the annual buying guide. How-to-guide
CQ Researcher
Explains both sides of controversial issues in the news and gives reliable facts to let you decide for yourself how you feel about a topic. These are the same articles which appear in the print version of CQ Researcher. This database will also generate its own citations in APA, Bluebook, Chicago Manual or MLA format.
CQ Weekly
Complete source for expert coverage of the U.S. Congress: status of bills, votes and amendments, floor and committee activity and back-room maneuvering. Produced by the largest news team on Capitol Hill.
Credo
Credo is a collection of hundreds of reference books on many different subjects. The collection includes dictionaries, encyclopedias, thesauri, atlases and books of quotations including full color illustrations and maps. Credo will generate APA, MLA or Chicago Manual citations. How-to-guide
Daily Life Online
This database provides coverage of history, geography, social customs, family life, leisure, arts, food, clothing, religion and holidays of over seventy countries from around the world dates include the 4th century CE to the present. This is a good source if you are doing a paper about what life was like during a certain time period or you need to know about customs or foods for another country in the present day.
English Poetry
Essentially the complete English poetic canon from 600 to 1900. Over 165,000 poems by more than 1,250 poets drawn from nearly 4,500 printed sources.
ERIC (Education)
Indexes over 750 journals in the field of education from 1966 to present.Includes full-text of ERIC Digests from 1967 to present.
Faber Poetry Library
A collection of some of the most influential poets of the twentieth century. Includes the complete works of Sylvia Plath.

Foundation Directory Online Main Library Only
The Foundation Center's database is one of the primary resources for grant seekers. The database can be searched by specific fields, or can simply be browsed. It is geared to grant seekers who are affiliated with non-profit entities. It is not set up to assist individuals seeking grant funding for personal projects.
Foundation Grants to Individuals Online Main Library Only
Similar to the Foundation Directory Online, this database is devoted exclusively to foundations that fund individuals (who may or may not be affiliated with non-profit entities). It is a rich source of information on scholarships, fellowships, grants and awards available to individuals seeking grant funding for personal projects.
Funk and Wagnall’s New World Encyclopedia
This encyclopedia includes the full-textof over 25,000 articles in many subjects.
Gale Virtual Reference Library
full-textreference books for the arts, education, environment, medicine, religion, science social sciences and more. Includes a translation tool that lets you translate any article from English into Spanish, French, Japanese, simplified Chinese, Italian, Portuguese or Korean.
GreenFILE
A freely accessible research database from EBSCO focusing on the relationship between human beings and the environment, with well-researched but accessible information on topics ranging from global warming to recycling to alternate fuel sources and beyond.
Health Source: Consumer Edition
Provides access to nearly 80 full text, consumer health magazines, including American Fitness, Better Nutrition, Fit Pregnancy, Harvard Health Letter, HealthFacts, Men's Health, Muscle & Fitness, Prevention, Vegetarian Times and many others.
Health Source: Nursing/Academic Edition
Provides more than 400 scholarly full-textjournals focusing on many medical disciplines, and provides abstracts and indexing for over 500 journals. Also includes integrated results from Clinical Pharmacology (which replaces USP DI: Volume II, Advice for the Patient) and access to Stedman's Medical Dictionary.
Heritage Quest
A resource for census data, family records and local history. The collection provides access to every extant U.S. federal census, as well as a multitude of family genealogies, local histories, tax lists, city directories, land and probate records, birth, marriage, and death records and more.

Allows you to search for articles with images - including charts, photos, maps and illustrations from different EBSCO databases.

Kids Search
Search through many encyclopedias and magazines in one place. You can search by lexile level under "Detailed Search." There are also materials available for teachers and homeschool parents.
Learning Express Library
Provides online classes for the SAT, ACT and GED preparation. It also has practice tests with scoring for all of those plus the ASVAB, high school AP exams, graduate school entrance exams, nursing, real estate, firefighter, cosmetology, police officer and more. How-to-guide
LISTA
Library, Information Science & Technology Abstracts (LISTA) database provides coverage on subjects such as librarianship, classification, cataloging, bibliometrics, online information retrieval, information management and more. LISTA indexes nearly 600 periodicals plus books, research reports, and proceedings. With coverage dating back to the mid-1960s, it is the oldest continuously produced database covering the field of information science.
Literary Reference Center
Provides scholarly articles and criticism, biographies, author interviews, a history timeline and the full-textof public domain novels, short stories and poems.

MasterFile Premier
Covers a wide variety of topics from about 3,100 magazines and journals from 1984 to present. Coverage includes many complete articles from more than 1500 periodicals from 1990 to present.
MAS Ultra - School Edition
Contains full-textfor more than 500 popular, high school magazines including America’s Civil War, American Heritage, American History, Archaeology, Astronomy, Bioscience, Careers & Colleges, Civil War Times, Congressional Digest, Discover, Economist, History Today, Nation, National Review, New Republic, New Scientist, Popular Science, Science News, Scientific American, Smithsonian, World War II.. Middle Search Plus
Designed to assist middle and junior high school students in learning how to research current events and information on a wide range of general topics. Total coverage includes nearly 400,000 articles.

NC Health Info is an online guide to web sites of quality health and medical information and local health services throughout North Carolina. Designed to meet the needs and interests of North Carolinians, NC Health Info leads users to resources that are reliable and easy to understand. Links on NC Health Info are selected and maintained by North Carolina librarians.
NetLibrary
This service provides downloadable ebooks which you can read on your computer. It includes fiction, nonfiction, Cliff notes, children's books and much more.NetLibrary also has science fair project books for students in elementary school through high school. Newspaper Source Plus
Search the full-textof newspapers from around the country including, The New York Times from 1985 to the present, The Herald Sun going back to 1998 and The News and Observer going back to 1999.

North American Women's Letters and Diaries
Over 150,000 pages of published letters and diaries plus 4,000 pages of previously unpublished materials depicting the personal experiences of hundreds of women. Contains materials from Colonial times to 1950.
North Carolina Collection
Durham County Library has a large archive which can help with many local history questions. While some of the collection is available on the website, some things are only available in the building. Please call 560-0171 if you have any questions.

PsycINFO
PsycINFO, from the American Psychological Association (APA), contains more than 2 million citations and summaries of scholarly journal articles, book chapters, books and dissertations, all in psychology and related disciplines, dating as far back as the 1800s. The database also includes information about the psychological aspects of related fields such as medicine, psychiatry, nursing, sociology, education, pharmacology, physiology, linguistics, anthropology, business, law and others. Coverage include journal coverage, which spans 1887 to present, includes international material selected from nearly 2,000 periodicals in more than 25 languages.

Contains detailed information on more than 14 million U.S. businesses, 210 million U.S. residents and 855,000 U.S. health care providers. Click on the HealthCare search to look up the credentials of a particular physician or dentist from the basic search screen. Sanborn Maps North Carolina
Sanborn fire insurance maps from 1867-1970 for all parts of North Carolina.
