Program: Bullish on Durham: Spotlight on Downtown
Date: Saturday, May 4
Time: 3 p.m.
Location: Main Library, 300 N. Roxboro Street
Cost: Free and open to the public
About: Durham County Library will host recently retired Downtown Durham, Inc. president, Bill Kalkhof, as he leads a discussion and celebration of the organization’s 20th year. Kalkhof will be joined in an up-close and personal conversation by Andrew “Andy” Widmark, early downtown developer, and Michael Goodmon, Vice President of real estate for Capitol Broadcasting Company, which owns the American Tobacco campus.
During DDI’s first 20 years the American Tobacco Campus, West Village, Durham Performing Arts Center and Durham Bulls Athletic Park were completed. Kalkhof will discuss the “back story” of how and why he was selected to lead the organization, how some of these historic developments “got done,” some behind-the-scenes tidbits of downtown revitalization and what lies ahead for the heart of Durham.
The discussion will take place at 3 p.m. on Saturday, May 4 at the Main Library, 300 N. Roxboro Street. Refreshments will be served.
