About: Durham County Library will host Dr. Susan Schneider for a presentation and discussion about her book, The Science of Consequences: How They Affect Genes, Change the Brain, and Impact Our World, at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, March 25, at East Regional Library, 211 Lick Creek Ln.
The principles of learning from consequences affect us every day. Schneider’s talk summarizes them, discusses their important role in nature-and-nurture and samples their wide range of applications, including favorites like parenting, language development and self control. The program includes a presentation and a Q & A session.
Schneider taught the science of consequences at Auburn University, and served as the Associate Director of the Developmental Psychobiology Laboratory at Florida International University. She has published numerous research and theoretical articles and book chapters, including pioneering studies on generalization and choice. Schneider is currently a Visiting Scholar at the University of the Pacific.
