About: Romance author and career Army officer, Jessica Scott, will share a reading from her latest novel, Back to You, at 3 p.m., on Saturday, August 23 at the Southwest Regional Library, 3605 Shannon Road.
Back to You is the most recent release in Scott’s “Coming Home” series about soldiers returning from war. In the novel, Army Captain Trent Davila has responded to his feelings of emptiness after nearly dying in combat by deploying again and again, leaving his wife and two children behind. Now his marriage is at a breaking point. His wife, Laura, offers to help him fight a court martial on false charges, and the ensuing intimacy reminds her of their long-buried love. But love isn’t enough; Laura must decide if she can trust Trent to stay home this time.
Scott is a USA Today bestselling author. She has written for the New York Times At War Blog, PBS Point of View Regarding War, and Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America. She deployed to Iraq in 2009 and has had the honor of serving as a company commander at Ford Hood, Texas twice. In 2012, she was one of Esquire Magazine’s Americans of the Year.
