About: Durham County Library will host author, environmentalist and social entrepreneur Lyle Estill at 3 p.m. on Sunday, September 21 at the Main Library, 300 N. Roxboro St.
Estill will read from his books Small is Possible: Life in a Local Economy; Biodiesel Power: The Passion, People, and Politics of the Next Renewable Fuel; Industrial Evolution: Local Solutions for a Low Carbon Future; and Small Stories, Big Changes: Agents of Change on the Frontlines of Sustainability. Using his work as a springboard for discussion, Estill will explain why he believes “change the stories and you change the culture.” A book signing will follow the program.
Besides being an author and columnist for the News and Observer, Estill is an artist and the publisher of Energy Blog. He is the co-founder of Piedmont Biofuels and currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Piedmont Biofuels Coop. He was a founding board member of the Biofuels Center of North Carolina, and he has served on the board of the Sustainable Biodiesel Alliance.
