Program: Here Comes the Sun!
Date: Sunday, Aug. 16
Time: 3 p.m.
Location: South Regional, 4505 S. Alston Ave.
Cost: Free and open to the public

About: Durham County Library will host Dr. Walter Weare for a discussion about artificial photosynthesis at 3 p.m. on Sunday, August 16, at the South Regional Library, 4505 S. Alston Ave.

When discussing solar energy, much discussion has been centered on solar panels. Weare points out that solar panels don’t store energy, and instead focuses on artificial photosynthesis as a way to produce carbon neutral fuel.

Weare is Assistant Professor of Organic Chemistry at North Carolina State University. He completed his Bachelor of Science at the University of Oregon and his Ph.D. at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He was awarded a Postdoctoral Fellowship with the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory from 2006-2010.
