Durham County Library Celebrates the Midpoint of Summer Reading at Durham Central Park

DURHAM – Durham County Library will celebrate the halfway point of Summer Reading 2016 with the Midpoint Rally on Saturday, July 16 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Durham Central Park, 501 Foster St.

Dress up your dog as your favorite athlete and join in the second annual Midpoint Dog Parade beginning at 4:15 p.m. Other highlights will include storytelling and yoga by Casey Nees, interactive song and dance by Impromptu Players, hopscotch, hula hoops and food and dessert trucks! Visit the information table when you arrive to receive a secret code you can use to earn more summer reading points toward prizes for attending the event. This celebration is free and open to the public.

In addition to programs like the Midpoint Rally, children, teens and adults can participate in the ongoing Summer Reading program through August 6 by registering online at durhamcountylibrary.org/summerreading or at any Durham County Library location. Once registered, participants earn points by reading, attending programs and completing other activities like writing book reviews.

Summer Reading, the library’s most popular program, is sponsored by Coca-Cola Bottling Company, Durham Arts Council, Durham Central Park, Durham County Government, Durham Library Foundation, Durham History Hub, Durham Public Schools, Friends of the Durham Library, The Herald-Sun, Northgate Mall, The Regulator Bookshop, United Way of the Greater Triangle and Univision.
