Summer Reading is free and open to the public, and begins with a Kickoff celebration at Northgate (1058 W Club Blvd, Durham, NC 27701) from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, June 17. Join in the fun on the Plaza starting with a parade at 10 a.m. followed by a day full of music, movement, and fun! Be sure to stop by the Books Among Friends book sale at Northgate, too, open June 17 as part of the Kickoff.
Free programs are offered throughout the summer at Durham County Library locations and throughout the community, all connecting in to this year’s theme: Build a Better World. Sign up now and start earning points on June 17 by reading, attending library programs, visiting different libraries, exploring a library database or electronic resource, or volunteering in the community.
The popular Summer Fine Read Down is back again this year, too. Reduce your library fines by reading – just bring your reading materials to the information desk at a Durham County Library, sign in with a librarian each time you want to participate, and read at the library.
Share your Summer Reading photos on social media using #DCLBuildaBetterWorld.
