Durham County Library is celebrating the midpoint of Summer Reading 2017 with a service project. Come help create Little Free Libraries for Durham. Little Free Libraries allow you to take a book, share a book, and return a book, all for free. Bring your talent, ideas and creativity to help decorate Little Free Libraries that will be donated to the Durham community. The event is Saturday, July 15 from 10 a.m. to 12 noon at South Regional Library, 4505 S. Alston Ave., Durham, NC 27713.
Registration is required. Register online at DurhamCountyLibrary.org/SummerReading to participate. The event will be outside, weather permitting. If it rains, the festivities will move inside.
In addition, residents of Durham communities interested in hosting and maintaining a Little Free Library are invited to submit 1-3 paragraphs explaining why your community would love to have a Little Free Library. Describe how you would maintain it (refilling books, caring for it, and marketing its use within your community) and how you feel this would connect your community in a more meaningful way – to one another and to the Durham County Library.
