Durham County Library Kicks Off Summer Reading 2018: Libraries Rock!

Durham, NC – Durham County Library presents Summer Reading 2018: Libraries Rock! from June 9 to August 11. Sign up online at DurhamCountyLibrary.org/SummerReading or at any Durham County Library location. People of all ages are encouraged to participate.

Summer Reading is free and open to the public, and begins with a Kickoff celebration at Northgate (1058 W Club Blvd, Durham, NC 27701) from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, June 9. Join in the fun on the Plaza with family-friendly activities, performers, face painters, and crafts! Be sure to stop by the Friends of the Durham Library’s book sale at Books Among Friends inside Northgate, open June 9 and 10 – see FriendsoftheDurhamLibrary.org for sale hours.

Free programs are offered throughout the summer at Durham County Library locations and throughout the community, many of them featuring music in connection to this year’s theme: Libraries Rock! Sign up now and start earning points on June 9 by reading, attending library programs, visiting different libraries, exploring a library database or electronic resource, volunteering in the community, and attending musical concerts in the community. You’ll have the chance to win some awesome prizes by reading and completing activities throughout the summer!

The popular Summer Fine Read Down is back again! Reduce your library fines by reading – just bring your reading materials to the information desk at a Durham County Library, sign in with a librarian each time you want to participate, and read at the library.
