Holds

Any holds currently on the shelf at Stanford L. Warren will have their expiration date extended to September 15, 2018. If you need an item before that date, please call Myrtle Darden at 919-560-0274. Myrtle will work with you to choose a new pickup location, place the item on hold again, and move you to the top of the hold list.

All S. L. Warren items will be unavailable during this time. Items will not show in the catalog, SLW will temporarily be removed as a pick-up location, and no room reservations will be available at the location.

Hi! I have a hold that’s ready for pickup at Stanford Warren. How do I get it transferred to another location?

If the books we placed on hold at Stanford L. Warren are to be picked up before the library reopens, what do you advise to do? Are the books on hold re-located to another library for pick up?

Can we still return books to this library location?

    • Sarah Dooley August 9, 2018 at 9:23 am #

Great question! Yes, the book drop on the street is still open. (You can also return books from SLW to any other location.)

Can movies be dropped in the box as well?

        • Sarah Dooley August 9, 2018 at 2:51 pm #

          Yep, that should be fine!

Sarah Dooley I dropped off a DVD in this box last week and it showed up as late on my account this morning. Has anyone been keeping up with the drop box?

I have a Wifi box that’s due tomorrow trying to see if I can renew it but unfortunately the building is getting maintenance where do I go to renew it

    • Sarah Dooley August 10, 2018 at 9:04 am #

Hi Chelle – unfortunately, wifi boxes can’t be renewed (that’s the standard policy for them, not just because SLW is closed). You can return it at any of our other locations.

Do u what date the library will be reopen this month.

    • Sarah Dooley August 23, 2018 at 12:51 pm #

Hi Darlene! The work is taking a little longer than expected, so it’s looking like mid-September now. We’ll post an update when we have a more specific date. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Is the book drop still open? Will it remain open for the duration of this maintenance work? With this branch (and Main and Bragtown) closed, there is really poor library access near downtown/central Durham. Have you considered temporarily expanding the offerings at Northgate or adding a book drop there? It must be tough for those who depend on public transit to access the four remaining branches.

        • Sarah Dooley August 24, 2018 at 1:57 pm #

Hi Erin! Yes, the book drop is still open and will remain open for the duration. We know that having SLW also closed really changes the access available and are taking steps to mitigate that wherever possible (as well as working to get it open again as soon as possible!)

Thanks, Sarah! I’m sure this is really hard on the library staff too. Hopefully SLW will be fixed soon.

Thanks, Erin – we really appreciate everyone’s understanding throughout this work. We will definitely be happy to get it open again 🙂
