Durham, NC – Durham County Library presents Meet the Author: Jerry Gershenhorn on Thursday, September 13 at 6:30 p.m. at South Regional Library, 4505 S. Alston Ave., Durham, NC 27713. This event is free and open to the public.

Join us to hear Mr. Gershenhorn speak about his new work, Louis Austin and the Carolina Times: A Life in the Long Black Freedom Struggle (UNC Press, 2018). A transformative leader of the long black freedom fight in North Carolina, Mr. Austin used the power of the press to give voice to black Carolinians. This biography chronicles Austin’s career, highlighting the vitality of black protest in the 20th century. A Q&A will follow the reading. Books will be available for sale.
