April 10, 2018 is National Library Workers Day, and employees of Durham County Library deserve a HUGE applause! Please join me in recognizing our 154 employees for a job well done. We are fortunate to have a workforce dedicated to exceeding customer expectations. Whether you visit our Community Library, Neighborhood Library, Regionals, and North Carolina Collection or experience our Outreach efforts, your experience should be one of welcome and service from our staff. I often refer to staff as a team. I do so because I believe in the concept of Together Everyone Achieves More. The TEAM at Durham County Library is successful because of their collaborative nature and willingness to go the extra mile.

While I can’t speak to all library team members in NC, I can speak about the TEAM at Durham County Library. I stand on the shoulders of the greatness that each TEAM member brings to work each day. We have a TEAM dedicated to touching the lives of others in a positive way: providing homework help, improving literacy skills, helping customers learn new computer skills, providing programs that are educational and entertaining, fostering lifelong learning, and so much more.
The TEAM at Durham County Library is edgy, innovative, bold, and simply great at what they do. We must continue working hard as a system to maintain our level of greatness and strive for greater excellence where needed. The recognition we receive, the accolades we get from Commissioners and customers alike is because of this great TEAM of employees. For that I’m grateful, proud, and humbled by the TEAM that serves our community. When you visit one of our locations, please take time to acknowledge staff with a simple thank you for their commitment and service to our stellar library system. To the TEAM at Durham County Library I personally say thank you for your efforts to provide service excellence to the public and each other.
