Anna Cromwell, affectionally known as “Mrs. Crumwell” to her little patrons, serves as Main Library’s Children Services Manager. Her favorite author is Roald Dahl. Anna’s love of books and libraries was born out of her mother’s example, as every Saturday morning, her mother would dress her six kids, line them all up, and walk to the local library. The entire family looked forward to watching Disney movies each Saturday and cherished the privilege of being able to take home two books every week.

Anna earned both a BA in social work and a MLS in library and information sciences at North Carolina Central University. As a librarian, she enjoys the many facets of librarianship; however, her love of storytelling stands out. It is a talent she earned honest at the knee of her grandfather, who served as the family’s griot: sharing ancestral tales, stories of adventure, and her favorite, the zany anecdotes of Brer Rabbit. Anna has put her own personal spin on the storytelling techniques her grandfather passed on to her and enjoys nothing more than sharing her love for libraries and good literature, and of course, bringing stories to life for the children who visit Main Library.
