In February, East Regional Library’s K-2 STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) TEAM and their families spread the love by making Valentine’s Day cards for local veterans. East Regional Library’s Children’s Services partnered with Durham County Veteran Services in an effort for library patrons to show appreciation to community members who have served our country. This program, which I had the opportunity to lead, promoted the importance of building connections while encouraging participants to tap into their creative side. The program opened a dialogue for children and their families, and through participating, the K-2 STEAM TEAM had the opportunity to learn about the significance of honoring veterans and the impact a small but kind gesture can make.
