Support the library

Durham County Library relies on the support of the community to help us continue to provide outstanding programs, resources, and services that we can’t achieve through County support alone. There are several ways you can get involved with the library.

Donate money

As a department of government, the library does not receive donations directly. You can support library programs and services by donating to these partner organizations:

The Durham Library Foundation provides funding to support innovative programs and expand traditional library services. There are many ways to give – learn more about donation options.

The Friends of the Durham Library helps fund library programs, services, and materials. You can contribute by becoming a member, shopping at a book sale, or making an additional donation.

Donate books

Got books, CDs, or DVDs to donate? The Friends of the Durham Library would love to have them – donated items stock the Friends book sales, and the proceeds help the Friends support the library. Get full details about donating items.

Donate time

The Friends of the Durham Library need volunteers to help with book sales and other projects. Get in touch for more info.

You can also help out by volunteering at the library. Contact your library location to ask about current needs.
